Cockhedge is a large, edge of town centre scheme in Warrington, built in the late 1980’s and like so many schemes in the UK suffered from the over-provision of retail across the across the town as a whole.

In 2022 Altered Space in collaboration with Warrington Borough Council, and as part of a wider strategic masterplan, achieved planning permission for up to 900 residential units in a sustainable brownfield location with the goal of growing a residential community that would help activate both Cockhedge and the Warrington town centre economy.

Reducing the retail provision by 80k sq ft Altered Space commenced refurbishment of the remaining scheme is 2023, creating a strong, mixed use commercial asset, introducing F&B and Leisure whilst enhancing the existing retail offering. 

With a fresh new Brand reflecting the heritage of the area, Cockhedge is once again a vibrant scheme with community at it’s heart.
